Heroes Update: Blumbi & Darkmok Released

November 09 2017

Over the past year, our Heroes of the Storm team has been able to contend as one of the best teams in Europe, at times even leading the charts of HGC EU. Unfortunately, our team was unable to carry the momentum from a strong first half into the crucial qualifying period for the HGC Grand Finals. We missed out on competing at BlizzCon, which is the ultimate goal of every Heroes of the Storm team.

This year, we would like to redouble our efforts and improve upon last year’s standing. The off-season is a period of transformation for many teams, a chance to improve and try new things. We are no different, and after some deliberation we have decided with our team that a change was necessary.

We would like to announce that we are releasing Simon “darkmok” Tabinand and Markus “Blumbi” Hanke, who will now be free agents. Both darkmok and Blumbi performed well throughout the year and they helped us reclaim our place as a challenger for the EU crown. We appreciate all that they have accomplished while on Team Liquid, and wish them success on their next endeavor.

“In their time with Liquid, Markus and Simon have both been an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only are they are positive and inspiring teammates, but (even more importantly) they are both incredible, kind, and caring human beings. I will miss them dearly, and I am so happy to consider them among my friends. Best of luck and I can't wait to see what the future holds for you!”

Brittany Lattanzio, Team Manager

Darkmok and Blumbi have both been incredible to work with. They are great players and were always willing to work hard to be among the best in the world. I wish them the best in their future endeavours!

Adam “Zoos” Stupavsky, Coach

We will retain our core of Lyubomir “Splendour” Kozlovski, Dennis “HasuObs” Schneider and Nils “Nurok” Gebhardt, and add two new players to the mix. Expect an announcement next week as we complete our team for 2018.
